Each map presents its own challenges, but this map for Kevin Hearne's Iron Druid Chronicles #5: Trapped was perhaps the most challenging one yet. I had so much information that needed to be crammed into one small paperback page, but I also wanted it to hearken back to the elegance of the ancient Norse aesthetic, which is more decorative and stylized than informational. It was a tough balance to walk, but I love where I came out in the end! The knotwork alone took a solid week. My brain was bleeding.

Very cool. I've always thought of the land of the frost giants and the fire giants as being on either side of the earth (relflecting the way life initially emerged in the gap between ice and fire), but this is fine too, and with a lovely style.I see you've even included Nidhogg gnawing at the root...
