Veiling Lessons -- Line Art

This should probably be in Scraps, but oh well. When I post the colored version, I'll move it. I won't be able to start coloring for a few weeks (I'm graduating, aaagck!), and I felt like sharing my doodles with the world.

Anyway, three cheers for White Night, the most recent book in The Dresden Files, by Jim Butcher. My ship is canon! All aboard the HMS Molly/Ramirez!

In the finished, colored version, Molly will have a glowy magic-y orb in her hand and there will be pretty lights indicating that they're under a veil. I'll also have a wee background Harry thinking "Where the hell is my apprentice?" Ah, wee background Harry! Some day, you will get your day in the spotlight!

One interesting conundrum I had to deal with for this drawing is Molly's hair. In chapter 2, it's short and spiky, but in chapter 34, it's long enough to put into a pontail, so my Molly's hair short and spiky in the back, long bangs in front. Still doesn't work with Jim's description, but I care not! *flashes artistic license* (Crack Theory: Molly is a young Nymphadora Tonks.)

I still don't like Ramirez's mouth, and his features don't really look "Spanish" enough, but I can play around with that in the coloring process. Also, Molly's neck is way too long, but then again I always draw necks too long. Maybe I'll claim it's a stylistic choice rather than a personal flaw! Yeah! And I should learn foreshortening at some point in time.

In conclusion, want Molly's boots. I also want more Molly/Ramirez cuteness! Fanartists and fic writers, have at them! I love that they're so close to the same height--it nicely compensates for my other Dresdenverse ship and their foot and a half difference.
