My cosplay of Delirium from Neil Gaiman's "Sandman" series. I created this costume for New York Comic Con 2008, and when I wore it to a Neil Gaimain reading for the CBLDF, I got my favourite costuming story ever.
I created the wig starting with a short white wig from CosWorx.com. I dyed it a wild cacophony of colors using this recipe. Next, I took free hair in red (shot with dark red, orange, and yellow), wefted it together with clear adhesive caulk, put it in foam rollers, and near-boiled it to give it that great, sproinging curl. Finally, I safety pinned the wefts into the wig body. It's so much fun to wear!
The jacket and horrible dress are from a thrift store.
I don't think Delirium showed up until the early 90s, actually. And I see at least three or four Deaths at every con I attend, so I'd hardly consider "Sandman" obscure! Thanks for the kind words, though.
